Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a seated manipulation massage of the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face to relieve muscle tension, joint pain and promote an overall feeling of wellbeing.

  • A traditional Indian Head Massage is performed with you fully clothed and seated on a chair. I stand behind you and begin the session with a grounding procedure to prepare myself and you for the treatment.

The massage then begins with the upper back, followed by the shoulders, upper arms and neck. I like to use a little coconut or grapeseed oil on the neck area to help the fingers glide more smoothly over the skin but I will discuss this with you prior to the start of the treatment. I then move on to the scalp, the face and the ears.

The session ends with some chakra balancing whereby I hover my hands in front or above the top three chakra points – throat, third eye (forehead) and crown. The whole thing takes approximately 30 minutes. I may work for longer on a specific area if we have identified a specific need during the consultation process.

After the treatment, I will offer you a glass of water to flush away any toxins that have been released and discuss a future treatment plan with you.

You have the option to include the use of a pre-blended and organic aromatherapy massage oil from Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic in your treatment. If you choose this option you will need to remove all clothing from your top half and wrap yourself in a sarong which I will provide for this use. We will choose the oil together depending on your preferences and needs. Please ensure you make me aware of any allergies at this point.
